If you have a commercial central vacuum or you are planning to buy one soon, you have probably already heard of water column (H2O or mmH2O) and airflow (CFM or m3/h).

As a reminder, the water column determines the suction force of a vacuum. High water column will allow you to efficiently lift dense materials, deep clean your carpets, or to vacuum liquids.

The airflow rate, on the other hand, is referred to the amount of air a unit can pull per minute or per hour. We generally look for high airflow when we need to clean large surface areas. The greater the airflow, the further the reach.

Drainvac’s products usually delivers a good balance between the suction force and the airflow, for most merchants. However, it may be necessary to increase the basic performance of a central vacuum system to meet the user’s needs. Adding a booter head can be an easy solution if more power is necessary. Let us explore the different possible configurations and their effects on the system’s performance.

Booster Head Connected in Series

A booster head connected in series will increase the water column of a device. We can take as an example a DV2A31-27CB model which has an H2O of 181 and a CFM of 122 to which we add a TETE27 connected in series. Its H2O will go up to 240 and the CFM will remain at 122.

Booster Head Connected in Parallel

A booster head connected in parallel will have the opposite effect and will increase the airflow of your central vacuum. If we take the same unit with a H2O of 181 and a CFM of 122 on which we install a TETE27 connected in parallel instead of in series, the H2O will remain at 181 while the CFM will increase to 250.

Adding two Booster Heads

If you don't want to compromise and want to get a maximum performance from your central vacuum, you can add two booster heads to it. Adding two heads will increase both the water column and the airflow of your unit. If we use our example of the DV2A31-27CB and adding a TETE27 and a TETE200, its water column will increase from 181 to 220 and its CFM from 122 to 230.

Drainvac's commercial units are completely customizable and can be adapted to better suit your needs. The central vacuum systems we produce are made to grow with your business and we are happy to help you with your projects!
